Zac Brown Band photo at Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood Atlanta 6/7/2014

I don't really have much to recap this weekend except that I saw THE greatest concert in the history of concerts!!! The Zac Brown Band... Truly and I have seen probably a hundred concerts in my years on this planet. They were absolutely amazing. Add in a hot summer night, a packed hometown Atlanta venue, food, drinks and good friends and you got yourself a big winner right there.

First of all, if you are a fan run, don't walk to your phone and download the new album right now... The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1. It's an EP so just four songs but... I am going to venture a guess and say 4 potential number one hits. Any one of them. If you don't know who Dave Grohl is well, google him, but safe to say if anyone is collaborating with him they are making hits, and amazing, soul moving music. Here is what he had to say about working with Zac on this EP. Bout' sums it up.
The Grohl Sessions, Vol. 1 is a four track extended play by the Zac Brown Band. Its four tracks are "Day for the Dead", "The Muse", "Let It Rain", and "All Alright".
In an interview with Rolling Stone, producer Dave Grohl stated, "They're unbelievable, the band is so good they can be tracked live; we didn't fuck with computers, we tracked live, four-part harmonies around one microphone. It's rocking. People are like, 'Oh, it's country.' 'No, it's not, it's like the Allman Brothers.' 'No, it's not, it's jam band.' I don't even know what you would call it, it's fucking great."[4]
I was trying to think of a way to describe this new album to someone who says they are not into country. Because it's not country, I mean it is somewhat, I was thinking Lynyrd Skynyrd but Allman Bros. is close too. Southern Rock that you can dance to, belt out or sit and enjoy whiskey in a mason jar to on a tailgate somewhere.  Sorry I am all super fan girl here. And did I mention how gorgeous the band is?? Just a bonus if you like country boys. And what Grohl said about them playing live... that to me is what makes a good concert great, when they sound even better live than they do on a recorded track.

Anyway it was a great night. We got a late start and for some reason Aaron's Amphitheatre is in some kind of cellular vortex and you get pretty much no service so pics are lacking. It was hot, we were pouring sweat from dancing all night. There was a military tribute, covers of Metallica Enter Sandman and Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb, lots of chit chatting with the crowd and amazing lights and backdrops. They sang Day for the Dead in full on glow in the dark skeleton costumes...

So freaking cool...

And the backdrops and stage designs for each song were really amazing....

It was a great weekend! I also got in two tennis matches and a lot of lazin around this weekend. I did not do one productive thing Next up Luke Bryan in a month. Right now I am pretty skeptical as to whether or not he can equal that! I am still tired. Dang I am old and I hate Mondays!

Cheers everybody!
