Goin' Up, On A Tuesday

note to self, speed racer :-)

Hi-Ohhhhhh! We are off and running into our last few days before school starts back on Thursday. How did that happen so fast? Its been a busy couple of days getting school supplies, some new clothes, backpacks and all of that stuff that is just so fun to buy new and fresh every year. Even the boy gets into new supplies, it must be genetic. Trick Daddy promised to take them shopping on Saturday and that fell thru so guess who got to do it? Mom of the year!!! But shocker... he paid me back  the money I spent since he promised to get the school stuff this year. Really... quite shocking.

Big news... I now have my very own Uber driver!! My daughter got a car yesterday! It's a used Nissan Exterra that she had her heart set on and thanks to Grandma and Grandpa (my amazing parents) she was able to purchase it. How do I have a kid that has her own car, a job, a parking space at school... ugh. Honestly I am excited and proud of her, and this is definitely going to make my life easier in many ways. Not the least of which is the Uber factor.. lol kidding... not really.

It was a kid filled weekend and I managed to have a little adult fun too. I got a lot done  and that always makes me feel pretty damn good... being responsible and productive that is, as opposed to what I have been doing all summer... goofing off. I got the tires rotated on my truck Saturday and hired some cheap landscapers on Sunday to do what it would have taken me a day to do to my yard. Maybe several days because I have minimal equipment. They knocked it out in about 2 hours for $75 which to me was money well spent. All my shrubs lost about half their height and they look so pretty and neat. Suck it homeowner's association! I still need to mulch but one thing at a time!

Saturday I also  watched my first ever UFC Fight Night and American Badass MMA fighter Ronda Rousey kick some Brazilian ass in 34 seconds to maintain her undefeated status. It was actually pretty cool except for the fact that we thought the title fight would be on shortly after 10:00 p.m. and ended up shortly after 1:00 a.m. I was actually drinking my second cup of coffee by the time she entered the ring. It was kind of mezmerizing watching all the fights... very intense and bloody but that doesn't phase me. I don't for the life of me really get why you would want to maim yourself like that but... whatever turns you on! Bethe Correia definitely looks like she has taken a few punches to the face.

If you have 34 seconds to spare take a look... sorry it's not in English but oddly there are very few videos on YouTube of the actual fight. This one was the best.

And it wouldn't be a day late weekend wrap up post without pictures of what I ate and drank... and stuff.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

  2. I can't believe school is starting already for your kids! Crazy. How is summer practically over? Also, I really, really need to find some landscapers that would do that for my yard for $75! That's awesome!

  8. what a great post! i’ll have to check out that yogurt recipe, i’ve been looking for a good one. i am all about making a whole bunch of dumplings, freezing them, and then steaming or panfrying them whenever i need just one or a few. they usually don’t last very long though
