Friday Favorites - Another One

Friday, February 26, 2016

Bless up: How DJ Khaled became the year's most positive meme Miami producer DJ Khaled turned 40 this year. To coincide with this milestone he also became a symbol of the American Dream a self-appointed motivational speaker and a public spectacle. He went from outsized hip-hop personality to a meme in human form. 2015 was the year we got Khaleds mantra Dont ever play yourself and weird metaphors about door hinges; it was the year we saw Khaled dunk a basketball on a comically short hoop and try desperately to contact Rihanna. In 2015 the name DJ Khaled became synonymous with a kind of unedited self-approval and idealism and the public loved him for it. Mostly. Continue reading:

Oh hey... Good Morning and TGIF. FYI... that guy up there... I'm obsessed with DJ Khaled. Secure your bag. Follow him on SnapChat @ DJKhaled305, he's oddly inspirational. This week kicked my ass and I am not even 100% sure why. Do you ever have those? Every night this week it felt like I had something I "had" to do  and I did and I don't like that. . Overscheduled, overworked, overtired and feeling a teensy bit sorry for myself because sometimes doing it all alone is muther fucking hard. I know, I know... and so what. Another one.

But the good news is it's Friday and now we get to talk about some of our favorite things with Amanda.

I am a bag collector in the worst way. Love these totes and zip pouches from Dogeared. You can never have too many totes and the lil' zips are perfect for just throwing in a few essentials when you are on the go and don't need your big everyday bag.

I know this seems so crazy because I am too old (for the boob tattoo that is), but I love these little designs!

Like this infinity symbol but placement under boob not in between:

I recently had the opportunity to try some new hair care products from Brand Backer & Hask, their Coconut Oil Nourishing Collection. I received  the Monoi Coconut Oil Shampoo, Conditioner, Deep Conditioner and Oil Shine Treatment. Can I just say... LOVE these products. First of all they smell wonderful like the aroma of coconut that makes you think of a warm tropical island... soft and subtle. The shampoo and conditioner are wonderful stand alone products. My hair is in good shape anyway but I did notice that my hair has been shinier than ever and seems to be less prone to horrible flyaways that plague me in the winter. The deep conditioner was a real treat to let sink in for a good 20 minutes after a tennis match last Sunday too. I have been using the Oil Shine Treatment as the last step in my routine before I flat iron and after as well to both protect the ends and add extra shine and smoothness. It is super light and also smells heavenly. I also got a super cute little brush that my little one promptly confiscated for herself. Great products! Give them a try!

It's official.... they're back and with more drama than ever so mind your mint juleps until the April 4th season premier on of course... Bravo.

I also had an opportunity to try a couple of fabulous skin care products also courtesy of Brandbacker and Valentia. I received samples of the True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask. First off being over 40, eye cream is an absolute must for me. I have crows feet, bags, puffiness, dark circles... you name it I got it. I will say that since I have been eating well my eye problems are less but this is a very nice addition to my product line. It's very light, absorbs quickly and leaves no greasiness and  for eyes that is critical! I really liked it! The Ultra Plumping mask was my favorite though. I love a good mask and this one really left my skin feeling smooth and really fresh looking. My skin felt tingly while it was on my face and that makes me think it was doing something. I loved the smell too! aI used it at bedtime and my face felt so hydrated afterward I felt like I really didn't even need a moisturizer. I love that the products are cruelty free, vegan, organic and 100% natural. If I don't put chemicals in my body why would I want them in my skin care? Give them a try!

My daughter turned me onto these awhile ago and I am not sure I ever posted about them in favorites but Lush Bath Bombs. If you are a bath person and are ever stressed or just want a good relaxing soak get some of these. The smell like heaven and make your skin feel silky soft. Oh and they do amazing things to your tub water too. I need one of these this weekend! Or anytime please!

I have a thing for breakfast food and specifically anything on a buttermilk biscuit. Someone who shall remain nameless has been torturing me with this chicken biscuit from Buttermilk Kitchen in Atlanta. I don't know how I have never heard of this or had one but apparently it is the stuff of legends. Adding this to my must eat soon list. A whole fried chicken breast with homemade sweet red pepper jelly and a buttermilk biscuit. Ummm yeah....

Did I mention I'm in the Waffle House regulars club? So I get first dibs on cool new WH product. I ordered this for St Patty's Day. I don't know why... I'll cut it up and make it cute for going out on SPD!

I have an event  or two coming up and I just got these Trendy Pointy Toe Pumps on sale... hell yeah. Did you see my snap of how super sexy they are on muh feet? No? Why are you not following me? If you would like to get yourself $10 off your next pair of Nine West shoes use my referral code here.

Hump Day Confessions: Secret Single Behavior & Stuff

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

"Secret Single Behavior." A term originating from the television show Sex and the City, a SSB is an action or habit that one indulges in only when alone. This refers especially to behavior that is hidden from one's significant other and could be potentially embarrassing (or disastrous) if discovered.
My personal SSB is eating a half-gallon of chocolate ice cream for dinner. I also dance around the apartment in underoos.

I have been officially single since May of 2013 and I have developed some weird habits. Side note... these are things that I mostly do alone when my kids are not around.

I fear that I may never be able to live with a man again after being alone for so long. For real, what would I do with another adult around all the time? To get on my nerves.

I talk to myself. I also talk to my dog as if he were an actual person. We have really great conversations. If anyone else is around I definitely don't do this because...

I have the music playing pretty much 24/7 when I am home alone. My taste ranges from old school country like Hank to current Hip Hop/R&B like Fetty Wap. If it has a lot of obscenities I turn it up louder. My ex hated anything really loud and I love it. I have blown out the speakers in every car I have ever owned. Truth. I still want to know what happened to Fetty's eye.

I sing and dance a lot really badly...especially while cooking in the kitchen... see previous confession.

I eat the majority of my meals at home sitting on the floor in front of my cocktail table either watching TV or on my laptop. Sometimes I just stand in the kitchen too. If the kids are around we try to sit at the table and we usually do.

When I am not eating clean I will eat anything and call it a meal. Mostly cheese and bread with some kind of fruit. There have been many entire weekends that this is all I ate. With wine. Sometimes I just eat a dessert like a piece of cheesecake or a pint of Ben & Jerry's and call that dinner too.

On the flip side of that I often like to cook myself an entire complete meal, plate it, garnish it and pour a nice glass of wine. Even if it's just for me and it takes me 2 hours, I don't give a shit. It's like therapy. And then sometimes I get sad cause I'm alone and then I'm like fuck it I deserve it... bi-polar much? Think of that scene in Bridesmaids where she makes the cupcake and then eats it. Me totally.

I might make a pot of coffee and then just keep drinking on it till it's gone... even if its the next day. I reheat it, put more milk in it, pour it over ice or whatever. I don't care if it's old.

I will wear the same lounge clothes for like a week. My kids don't notice when they are around. I get dressed to go out, come home, pick up the yoga pants and tank that I probably slept in off the floor and put them back on.

I put makeup on to stay home... just in case. And then if I get bored I am ready to take a cute selfie.

I'm off pizza right now but when I am on it I will order it one night, leave the leftovers in the box on the counter and eat if for breakfast the next day. Refrigeration is really not necessary, trust me I have done studies. And day old room temperature pizza is better than stone cold refrigerated pizza. I might even eat it the next day too. Don't care.

On Saturdays slated for cleaning house cocktail hour starts at noon. For some reason vacuuming, dusting and laundry is just better with an icy cold beer.

I'll try on outfits for no apparent reason, like 10 or 15 until my closet is a mess and I am all hot and sweaty and need a shower. Taking shit on and off is like a mini workout.

I will turn on Oxygen or Discovery ID and watch marathons of Snapped and Who The Bleep Did I Marry. I feel like this is a good way to reassure myself that being single is in fact not so bad at all.

Happy Humpday! Linking up with Kathy & Nadine...

More Coffee Less Talky

Hi. I Don't Care. Thanks.

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

I know you don't care either but here is a list of 8 things I don't care for or about lately.

I don't care about the majority of opinions except of course my own that people have that they rant about on FB/IG. But I don't rant.  I do block/unfollow/hide on the regular though. I think everyone should feel free to express whatever but I don't really give a shit. People seem very opinionated lately, ad nauseum.

The Kardashians. Just go away. Aaaand... yet another one has her own show. Kocktails or some crap. I drink a lot of cocktails, where's my reality show?

#OscarsSoWhite - At the risk of sounding very politically incorrect here, I don't give a fuck. If the academy thinks the best of the best just happen to be certain actors and actresses this year who cares? Isn't it their opinion? Is there a diversity quota they have to consider? Get over yourself. Boycott something that matters.

You sell wraps on IG and make millions and you think I would be great at it too.  I have no idea if wraps have any merit to them or not, never tried one. But I am not a direct sales persona. Not pushy enough I guess so please don't take it personally but not interested in being on your team.

All you folks dudes that DM me and Snapchat me just to "talk" and "so we can get to know each other". What? Why. Stop it. We are not getting to know each other because that's just stupid.

Girl's Night In. Listen up, I am not a fan at this point in my life. I was a stay at home Mom for 10 years and I was home a-lot... like think house arrest at home alot. I don't want to sit around with girls at home. I'm single, I want to go out. Out is where the fun and the boys are at. If I am staying in I'm probably going to choose my own company with my dog anyway so don't be mad when you invite me to stay in and I say no.

Parents who let their kids sit at the bar... don't do that. First off, people (me) go to bars to get away from kids. Don't ruin it for us by bringing yours and parking them at the bar on their devices while you stand around and wait for a table. Oh and unless your kid is a big tipper it's kind of rude to the bartender too.

I don't care that you think you are in more of a hurry than everyone else at 5:00 and try to create your own merging lane rather than waiting in line with everyone else on the freeway on ramp. My SUV is bigger and more obnoxious than your car and I will not let you merge, will not.  You will sit on the shoulder in your wrongness till I pass because you are wrong... and rude.

It's totally ok if you don't care either. Have a great day.

Hey... so the weekend has passed and it was pretty much OK. A sick kid and lots of obligations don't make for lots of fun but... I managed. I'm here and that is better than there, which is where I was last week. So let's recap... Friday night we did the Girl Scout cookie booth at our favorite local sports bar which we do every year. Now I know this sounds odd but it's a family joint and the girls love it. We sold lots of cookies and had lots of fun, dinner and drinks afterward.

Saturday I had to take the middle boy child to a High School rising freshman orientation type thing. Neither he nor I were excited about getting up a the butt crack of dawn on a Saturday but we went, heard the jist of what he could expect next year and headed out to Chick-Fil-A for biscuits and good Mother-Son bonding time. My sweet boy holds doors for me and his voice cracks and he's interested in technology and engineering. Somebody shoot me.

I spent the rest of the day Saturday cooking and shopping. I had 2 friends that had surgery last week and I brought the second one dinner on Saturday. Another Paleo Pizza Spaghetti Pie because all my gal pals are pretty darn healthy and Paleo these days. I got some shopping done and meal prep beginnings for the next week..   My daughter's sweet boyfriend came over and made pancakes for my girls. I also made an amazing thing for tennis on Sunday, Beer Cheese Spread, because Sunday tennis means feel good food and sports.

Sunday morning was a bit of a bust as I got through one recipe before I decided that my oldest teen really needed to go to the urgent care when she woke up with a fever... again. Hours later tonsilitis was the outcome and meal prep was pretty much out the window as I ran to my tennis match with about 5 minutes to spare.   Sunday tennis actually got rained out about half way through. I finished one set and won only to have to abandon ship because the courts were just too wet and there was no end in sight to the annoying drizzle. We don't risk ankles to get a match in... too old for that! We adjourned to the bar for a beer and then it was home to my crock pot full of Jalapeno Popper Chicken Chili  from my favorite Paleo chef Juli Bauer and her newest book The Paleo Cookbook...and an  episode of The Walking Dead with the kiddoes.

Sunday night comes so fast in my house. I hate it. It was  a good weekend though!

Stay Classy... Thanks For Stopping By.

Friday, February 19, 2016

Oh hey... just wanted to stop by and say I hope everyone has a great weekend! I have missed being here this week but my routine just got all facocked and I couldn't quite get my groove back in time to pull it all together. Work, kids, life all sometimes get in the way. Lately I cringe at the thought of churning out something that is less than from my heart just so I can hit publish. The good news is I had some bright spots this week too and hopefully more this weekend. I will definitely be back with some regularly scheduled programming and fun things to talk about Monday.

I have a couple product reviews coming up, a recipe or two to share and finally the Whole30 Food post that a few people have inquired about. Remember how I photographed every meal I ate for 30 days for you guys? Yeah... that. Also included in that some thoughts on life during the reintroduction phase and if I am still losing weight... stay tuned!

Till then... happy Friday hookers! If you need me check the bar:)

Crap. It's Tuesday already and I am still kind of weekending over here. Yesterday was President's Day and even though I worked it's like a mini vacay when I don't have to get the kids up and out. Mornings where I can roll out of bed leisurely, get myself ready for work, make coffee, take care of the dog, pack my lunch and head out without giving anyone else a thought are glorious. I did that today too and the kids come home tonight so... party's over. But let's re-cap the party shall we?

My weekend was both relaxing and fun. There were delicious foods, both healthy and decidedly turrible for me but I planned for the cheats and I am ok with that. There are many things I really love as far as cheat foods go and I decided to indulge in two this weekend. Dutch Monkey Doughnuts on Saturday and Fried Macaroni and Cheese Balls on VDay. Yes, I had balls in my mouth on VDay and I made one of my best guy friends put balls in his mouth too... needless to say we laughed our way through Valentine's Dinner and so did our waitress. I also played tennis on Sunday quite horribly and lost. But I ran around a bit which hopefully offset the balls I ate later.

I enjoyed several fires in my fireplace because it was frigid again in GA. I also did something I never do, like ever, and it was my idea. I went to see a Matinee... wait for it.... How To Be Single.

Shocking I know. I convinced one of my married friends that she needed to go with and indulge in shopping, food and beers afterward. It wasn't really that hard to do. We loved the movie! Rebel Wilson is so damn funny. Go see it! We followed that up with.... oh a little more cheating that I already forgot about, beers, guacamole and cute bartenders at The El Felix. If you live in the north Atlanta... go here!

It kinda looks like  I ate shit and goofed off all weekend... I actually made some good food too. More paleo banana bread, another spinach frittata, some amazing balsamic glazed chicken and a killer breakfast. I finally got my DD coffee too, first time this year! It was a good weekend, no Valentine's but lot's of fun!

How was your Valentine's weekend?

RĂ©miniscences de Toi! Cliquez pour Ă©couter. Enjoy yourself !.......♥For Your Precious Love - Otis Redding♥:

Happy Friday! It's time for me to rest, relax and enjoy a few days sans kids. It supposed to be butt cold here this weekend so I plan on fires and wine, maybe some brunch and Sunday tennis. I do not plan on celebrating any romantic holidays this weekend and in fact that brings me to my first favorite thing. My favorite anti-Valentine's Day gift. Let's go...

In an effort to be healthier I have been scouring Pinterest for drinks that won't eff up my paleo diet too badly. Seems like a good use of my time no? I like this one a lot since I am a big fan of GT's Kombucha. Original pin here for the Ginger Kombucha Mule.

Have you guys read anything by Paulo Coelho? The Alchemist maybe? I just bought this and will be hopefully getting to it this weekend. I am really trying hard to get back to reading and Adultery by Paul Coelho I am sure is going to be right up my alley.

I am obsessing about this chair again. Since I can't afford the Phillipe Starck original ghost chair I might just settle on this one for the vanity in my master bath, the Casper Dining Arm Chair found on Amazon of course. Isn't it just so cool? Need.

I am on the hunt for pink sunnies this year and I am digging on all of these in rose gold. The sort of cat eye with the bar across the top combined with a classic aviator. I would really like the Dior version but that's not happening. Any of these would do nicely... decisions, decisions.

pink sunnies [rayban] [dior]:

More organic looking stuff, can't wait to add some more of this to my shoulder piece. So sexy the way it hugs the curve of the shoulder and neck.

#tattoo #ink @heymercedes:

My favorite source for a great 30 Day Detox and simple, healthy, loose leaf tea, Teamiblends always has cool stuff for Valentine's Day and this year is no different. They have some great package deals to choose from and a super cute Valentine's mug lid to go with it. I have a cup of something hot on my desk at work pretty much all day long so I know I could get a lot of use out of this little nifty thing. Great to tuck away for a gift too!
