First Weekend of 2016 & Whole30 Round 2 Kicks Off!

Well, you would think that since I didn't post for the latter part of last week I would have tons of photos to share and stories to tell... you would think. But no, in fact I have just a few! I always look back when I have no photos and think "what the hell was I doing all weekend?". Somehow I had a party and never took pictures of the food, the minimal but cute decorations, the pretty array of champagne glasses or the countless bottles of Champs we consumed. Short answer, being present in the moment without my phone in hand. No apologies for that! I did snap chat a bunch of pics and videos and if you saw that then you know we were having fun! The NYE fun continued the next morning as I had some sleepover guests cause we don't drink and drive. We polished off the remaining champagne with Mimosas and I cooked a big ass breakfast and then everyone adjourned to their own homes and beds for the remainder of the day. Super fun holiday!

The rest of this past weekend was spent relaxing, watching old movies (Breakfast Club/16 Candles sucked me in on New Year's Day) catching up on Netflix, football, trivia in the bar and food shopping/meal prepping for my Whole30 which kicks off today!! I have been to Earth Fare, Sprouts, Costco  and Publix this weekend to get every last thing that I will need to be successful this week and some things that will last the month. Sunday I made egg muffins enough for 6 breakfasts on the go. Sausage, onion, Franks Red Hot and Prime Rib (leftover), scallion, horseradish were the two combos I went with for this week. I baked and shredded a spaghetti squash, 4 white potatoes, sauteed zucchini and chicken tenders for lunches. I feel really good knowing that all I really have to think about is dinner for the whole week. Snacks will be almonds, carrots, berries and nut butters, not sure what else but I have good healthy options. I am super psyched to get back to clean eating, my under eye bags have bags and it's not from being tired. It's from not eating clean and retaining water, inflamation is a killer for me at this point in my life!   1. i'm the same way - i forget to take pictures or would rather not get up and get my phone (and interrupt the conversations) just for pictures. like yesterday, my girlfriends and i took the kids to see The Nutcracker ballet and it was incredible. Of all the amazing photo opps, we only took like, 2.

  2. Sounds like you're all set! I did two breakfast packs just to top with eggs and one lunch but I'm counting on leftovers the rest of the week for both. I have sweet potato chili in the crock pot today that I'm super excited for! Of course this weekend some events parties came up for over the month, so I'm going to have to suck it up. Oh well!

  4. Usually the weekends I forget to take pictures are the weekends I had the most fun!!! I am back from my trip and went grocery shopping today to stock up for Whole 30! Day one is almost over. I might be a cranky bitch by lunch tomorrow, but at least I will be a healthier cranky bitch!

  5. It's the best forgetting everything else and just being in the moment! So glad you rang in the new year having a blast! I'm still thinking of what I need to break up with...aside from my sister-in-law and her husband that is. I wish I could break them off of my life like a damn Kit-Kat bar.
